This Privacy Policy explains how Kitchnd ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our pickleball player connection app. By using Kitchnd, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
Kitchnd operates in Australia and complies with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Information We Collect
Information You Provide:
- Account details: email address, name, password, date of birth
- Profile: photos, bio, skill level, playing preferences
- Messages and media shared with other players
- Location: GPS coordinates when you tap "Use Current Location" (we do not track your location continuously)
Information Collected Automatically:
- Usage data: how you interact with features, time spent in app
- Device information: device type, operating system, app version
- Log data: IP address, access times
- Diagnostics: crash reports and performance data (not linked to your identity)
Third-Party Services:
The app uses third-party services that may collect information to provide and improve their services:
- Supabase (authentication, database, storage)
- Stream Chat (messaging)
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide the app: account management, player discovery, messaging
- Match you with nearby players based on location and skill level
- Improve the app: fix bugs, analyze usage, develop features
- Communicate with you: notifications, support responses
- Ensure safety: prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms (which may include reviewing reported content or investigating complaints)
- Comply with legal obligations
How Your Information Is Shared
With Other Users:
- Your profile (photos, name, bio, skill level) is visible to other users
- Your approximate location (distance) is shown to help players connect
- Your messages are visible to recipients
- Your online status may be visible to players you've messaged
Backend Access to Messages:
As the operator of Kitchnd, we have technical access to message content through our backend systems and service provider APIs. This access capability exists for legitimate operational purposes only:
- Safety and moderation: Investigating reported content, harassment, or Terms violations
- User support: Resolving disputes or technical issues when you request assistance
- Legal compliance: Responding to valid legal requests or court orders
- System maintenance: Debugging technical problems or ensuring service reliability
We do not routinely monitor or read private conversations. Access to message content is limited, logged, and only exercised when necessary for the purposes listed above. Our service providers (Supabase and Stream Chat) also have technical access to data as infrastructure providers in accordance with their privacy policies.
With Service Providers:
- Supabase: database, authentication and storage
- Stream Chat: messaging infrastructure
- Analytics providers: performance monitoring
- Payment processors: if/when we offer premium features
These service providers are obligated to protect your information and use it only for specified purposes.
For Legal Reasons:
We may disclose information to comply with legal obligations, protect rights and safety, prevent fraud, or in connection with business transfers (e.g., acquisition).
Data Retention
- Account data: Retained while active, deleted within 30 days after account deletion
- Messages: Retained up to 1 year or until deleted
- Analytics data: Retained up to 2 years
- Legal requirements: May be retained longer when required by law
You can delete your account or request data deletion at any time.

- Your location is only updated when you explicitly choose "Use Current Location"

Kitchnd is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.
